About Us

Lāna`i Cat Sanctuary is a 501-(c)(3) non-profit community service organization, founded in 2008. Our mission is to assist animals on the Hawaiian island of Lāna`i by providing sustenance, foster homes, shelter, adoptions, veterinary care, spay/neuter services and humane education.

Our volunteers provide hours of feeding, watering, sanctuary maintenance, grooming and — best of all — petting and love for the kitties.  The rewards come back ten-fold to our volunteers, usually in the form of belly rubs, purrs and special bonds.

Donations are greatly appreciated and graciously accepted.  These donations, no matter the denomination, help Lāna`i Cat Sanctuary defray the cost of pet food, medicine and building materials for our growing shelter.

Our “new” permanent shelter was opened in October of 2009.  The sanctuary is a spacious, open-air 15,000-square-foot enclosure.  The enclosure is complete with cubicles for sleeping, “pallet palaces” for hiding, large 8-foot-long irrigation pipes for playing and kitty-climbing jungle gyms. The enclosure contains a selection of bushes, long grasses and trees for the cats to play, nap and climb in and on.  Some of these trees also provide sleeping perches for our more adventurous felines.  On many days you can spot cats swaying in the breeze in the crooks of the tree branches.  We are privileged to have a “purrrfect” welcoming committee to greet guests when they enter this feline sanctuary.

  1. My Aunt just donated in my name for a birthday/Christmas present, and I couldn’t be happier! SO glad there is a place like this. 🙂

    • Many thanks to you and your Aunt for having such generous hearts! It means so much to our kitties to have kitty – angels such as yourselves in their lives! We hope that you are able to visit us in the near future! Mele Kalikimaka and Hau’oli Makahiki Hou! Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!
